Fire Protection
Fire protection is provided to the Allen-Waterbury community by a 27-member volunteer fire department. The department also provides protection to areas outside the community and responds to mutual aid calls with area communities.

There are 9 certified EMT’s and 4 EMS/First Responders.
Law Enforcement
The Village of Allen is policed by the Dixon County Sheriff’s department which utilizes standard equipment for patrol, basic investigation, enforcing traffic law, and report writing.

Water | The municipal water system in Allen is supplied by two wells. The quality of water in Allen does not necessitate a water treatment plant. | |
Sewerage & Solid Waste Disposal | The Village of Allen has a municipal lagoon sewerage system. Allen’s solid waste disposal service is provided by the city. Waste is taken to the disposal site in Jackson, Nebraska, 18 miles east, which has an estimated life of more than 100 years. | |
