General Location

Allen is located in the northeastern corner of Nebraska at the junction of U.S. Highway 20 and Nebraska Highway 9 in the lush, rolling hills of Nebraska’s richest farmland. Allen is located in a tri-area with Sioux City, Iowa 30 miles east; Norfolk, Nebraska 60 miles southwest; and Vermillion, South Dakota 42 miles northwest of the community.

 

Education

The Allen Consolidated School District #70 has a K-12 enrollment of about 235 students. The school is state accredited for grades K-12. Allen Consolidated offers a wide range of curriculum and extracurricular activities. Educational Service Unit #1 at Wakefield, Nebraska, provides additional services for Allen Consolidated Schools.

Recycling

The Village of Allen, with the help of Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District, recently received a new recycling trailer through a grant process. The Village has also switched to a new recycling processor called Laurel Regional Recycling Center located in Laurel, NE. If you have any questions or concerns about the recycling process you may contact Lathan Asbra at 402-256-3155.

There is no handling fee imposed on the Village of Allen to process our recycled material but there are set rules that must be followed otherwise the recycled material can not be accepted.
