BOARD OF TRUSTEES
August 14, 2023
The Village Board of Trustees met in regular session August 14, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the Allen Village Office. Chairman Jay Jones called the meeting to order with Trustees Judy Nice, Brett Koeppe, and Dean Chase answering roll. Absent – Doug Ellis. Also present were Roger Protzman of JEO, Gunner Tracy and Clerk Jean Rahn. Chairman Jones informed the audience where to find the posted copy of the Open Meetings Act. Motion by Koeppe, seconded by Chase to approve the minutes of the last meeting. All present voted aye, motion carried. Motion made by Chase, seconded by Nice to accept the treasurers’ report as read. All present voted aye, motion carried. The following bills were presented for approval US Treasury – 2227.20 taxes, NNPPD –1743.29 elec., NNTC – 205.80 tele/internet, Aramark – 113.46 rugs, L.P Gill – 747.86 landfill, Nebraska Journal Leader – 7.19 pub, Nebraska Public Health Lab – 71.00 tests, Nebraska Dept. of Revenue – 411.86 tax, Payroll Salaries – 10504.56 wages, Countryside Gas & Groc. – 498.56 fuel, Chesterman –7.00 water, One Call Concepts – 3.20 locates, Spahr Electric – 1621.65, rep, Alex King-Lobo – 59.92, dep, League of NE Municipalities – 642.00, dues, Auto Anatomy Alternatives – 48.15 rep, Laurel Ace Hardware – 76.97, sup, Midwest Customs – 90.68, sup., Midwest Lab – 136.50 tests, Eakes Office – 123.98, sup, Utility Section – 400.00 dues, Cardmember Services – 511.24 tools and postage, Post Office – 351.00, postage.. Motion made by Koeppe, seconded by Nice to pay the bills as listed. All present voted aye, motion carried.
Roger Protzman from JEO discussed the funding package options that have been offered for the Village of Allen nitrate problem and our options on trying to correct it.
A telephone conference was held with AMGL discussion our upcoming budget.
Clean up weekend was discussed. We are going to have a fall clean up weekend August 31 – September 4th. Roll Offs will be parked in the usual area for residents of Allen may take their unwanted items there at that time. Motion by Chase, seconded by Nice to have this clean up weekend this fall. All present voted aye, motion carried.
Animal control, fluoride, fencing, security items, and removal of trees were discussed.
Other items discussed was mud running onto street and cleanup day.
Being no further business, Koeppe made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Nice. All present voted aye, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:37 p.m. The Board of Trustees of the Village of Allen, Nebraska will meet in regular session following the budget hearing on September 11, 2023 in the Village Office.
